Boat Work

The boat yard

April and May are busy months at the boat yard in Homer. It seems like a hundred boats are being worked on at almost all the hours of the day. Nearby the F/V Ounce, which we've been working on, the Xenon is getting a new house, John's gillnetter is being re-powered, and Brad is finishing a new cape/rub rail on his seiner. This season, the Ounce got a new propeller shaft and cutlass bearings, new dripless shaft seals, new hydraulic lines and rebuilt valves, rebuilt steering ram and a functioning anchor winch. All the belts, filters, and fluids also got changed. We're in the water now and ready to fish!

We also found some time to have some fun across the bay...

But, This fishing family might be having more fun...
